Kooskia / Kamiah News: Carve pumpkins at Riverfront Oct. 23

Dolores Shannon 926-4908

— Here is the second best thing that could happen to a pumpkin, and it is happening in Kamiah on Oct. 23, noon to 3 p.m. Guessed what it is? Pumpkin carving. Yep, the 11th annual Pumpkin Carving Contest and you won’t want to miss it. Kids of all ages are invited, but must bring an adult, and they can make their own Jack-O- Lantern. Write this one down and bring the children to the Riverfront Park in Kamiah and enjoy some quality time with your kids.

The next couple of weeks we will have a lot of children out and about for the Halloween festivities. Be careful when you drive, dark costumes could cause an accident. Many of the local clubs, groups and churches are having a party, check in your area to see if there is a party near you.

What’s happening: Recycle on Saturday at their facility over the bridge near where the old pole yard was; 10 am until noon. Schedule your mammogram at the Kamiah Clinic, 935-2585. Mammograms are by appointment and done on the second Wednesday of each month. Tahoe QRU is still offering free Ta Chi classes at their facility, 7856 Leitch Creek Road, seven miles east of Kooskia, on Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. Just show up! These are continuing classes for everyone but emphasis is on seniors to help with balance and general good health. If you know or make news, give me a call.
