WHITE BIRD Jacob W. Collier of White Bird was sentenced Aug. 15 on felony charges for burglary and grand theft for a December 2015 incident at Hoot’s Café.
Judge Gregory FitzMaurice ordered Collier, 25, to serve a minimum of two years and a maximum of five in the custody of the Idaho Department of Correction, nine months in the county jail (with credit for time served) and to pay $245.50 in court costs with restitution to be determined later. Of this, the prison time was suspended and Collier was placed on supervised probation for five years.
Collier was charged with burglarizing the café in White Bird on Dec. 7 and 10, 2015, taking cash along with the owner’s estimated $35,000 gold nugget collection.
Idaho County Prosecutor Kirk MacGregor handled the case. Public defender Victoria Olds represented Collier.
