Well, it certainly is “springtime in the Rockies,” … what with sunshine and hail within minutes of each other, then rain, on Sunday, and finally waking up to snow Monday morning!

Lots of activities this month.

There are two activities planned for Saturday, April 8th:

The VFW Community Yard Sale & BBQ – the yard sale will start at 9 a.m. with the BBQ from 12-3 p.m. Chicken will be provided – just bring a side dish.

Then stay for the Bingo fund-raiser that will be held to raise money for school activities (field trip and graduation) at the VFW on April 8 at 5 p.m. They will also be selling pizza by the slice.

Don’t forget, the Friends of the Elk City Library are again sponsoring a Beer and Wine Tasting event on Friday, April 14, at the Elk City Laundromat, doors open at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the Mt. View School District 244 library budget to support the Elk City Community and School Library. If you have donations please contact Sue Phillips, 842-2359 or leave them at the Elk City School.

April 16th is a special day all on its own. There will be a celebration of the Resurrection of Christ at 7 a.m. at the Baptist Church, followed by breakfast prepared and served by the deacons at 9 a.m. More information will follow in next week’s column.

Then there is the VFW Auxiliary sponsored Easter Egg Hunt at the school at 11 a.m.

After enjoying fellowship and breakfast, lunch will be served at the VFW kitchen from 1-3 p.m.

The Community Easter Dinner, which is sponsored by the Bodden family, will consist of ham, rolls, green beans, with dessert provided. There is no cost - just bring a dish to share.

Dr. Secrest will be at the Elk City Medical Clinic on April 18th. Call 208-962-3267 for an appointment. Walk-ins welcome.

Meetings: Elk City Area Alliance on the 10th at 7 p.m.; EMT skills meeting on the 11th.

Birthdays: Margaret Robinson and Bill Phillips.
