— Andrew Riener will celebrates his 100th birthday Saturday, April 15.

Andrew Joseph Riener was born Feb. 9, 1917, to Frank and Mary Anne “Jenny” Stubbers Riener on a farm near Greencreek, Idaho, and grew up on a farm near Ferdinand, Idaho. Both farms were on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation. He attended a one-room schoolhouse a mile and a half from his home.

He served in the US Army from February 1942, through October 1945, both in Hawaii and Europe during WWII. He married Evelyn Dale Cash April 10, 1943, and they were married for more than 71 years. She died Nov. 30, 2014.

Riener worked for John Hoene Implement Company in Grangeville prior to his time in the Army, returning to work there until his retirement in 1981.

His children, Mike, Ken (Judy) and Kathy will be hosting a birthday celebration for him Saturday, April 15, 2017, from 2 -5 p.m., at Oscar’s Restaurant, 101 E. Main Street, Grangeville, Idaho.

The family welcomes all family, friends and acquaintances to join in for this celebration.
