— As last week’s column mentioned, there will be a celebration of the Resurrection of Christ on April 16 at 7 a.m., at the Baptist church, followed by breakfast prepared and served by the deacons at 9 a.m. Pastor Tom Moore writes, “Nearly 2000 years ago, early on Sunday morning after the crucifixion, ladies who had followed Jesus went to the tomb to complete their work of preparing His body for burial. They were the first to discover the great truth of the resurrection.” So, people can spend the day with families, there will not be the regular Sunday School at 9:45 a.m., but the regular worship service will be at 10 a.m.

Then head on over to the school for the VFW Auxiliary sponsored Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m.

The next leg of the celebration will be lunch served at the VFW kitchen from 1-3 p.m.

The community Easter dinner, which is sponsored by the Bodden family, will consist of ham, rolls, green beans, with desert provided. There is no cost - just bring a dish to share.

Just didn’t want you to forget…

The rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm for the Fishing Derby 2017. First place was split between Mike Burch and Jasper Thompson with each of their fish measuring 37”; second place with overall weight was Jasper Thompson; he also won third place for first fish caught; fourth was won by Adam Jacob Perry for second in length; Matt Jameson took fifth for third in weight class. Anita said that, “Everyone ended up with a little something thanks to all the generous donations! Thank you especially to Chris Thompson, and Cierra McKinney for being camp hosts and check-in chiefs, and Jim and Tracy Thompson for keeping the fire going. Thank you to Mike and Brandee Burch for bringing the young fishermen!” She would also like to thank Idaho Fish and Game; Dale’s Cashway; Elk City General Store; Elk Creek Station and Cafe; Elk City Saloon and Cafe. Then there was the school puppet show put on for the parents. Bob and Jackie Mackie have been working with kids in the community and elsewhere for more than 20 years with puppetry. They always put on a fun-to-watch show. This year’s puppeteers are Kaidin Slover, Kegen Slover, William Stival, Maddie Armstrong, Trevor Foster, Natalee Lamar, Derrick Chlebowski, Marshal Chlebowski, Beverly Farmer, Jessica Boyd, and Sam Hickman. The photo shows the kids with their puppets and Jackie Mackie. Her husband Bob is always behind the scene.
