Purse auction set for Sunday, April 23

— Who needs another purse? You do, that’s who. And perhaps a whole lot more.

The Third Annual Purse Auction is set for the Cottonwood Community Hall this Sunday, April 23. Doors open at noon and the auction will begin at 2 p.m.

This annual event brings awareness to the needs of women who have been victims of domestic violence in Idaho County. Proceeds from the event help families of domestic violence and sexual assault in the county. The auction is held during April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

“We have some exciting stuff for auction, including a Seahawks signed football,” said organizer and YWCA advocate Kristy Beckstead.

A dinner of hot dogs, beans, cole slaw, potato salad, dessert , lemonade, coffee and iced tea will be served.

Donation items are needed and in the past have included purses and backpacks, filled or empty. Gift certificates, cash and other gift items are also needed to include in the purses and bags to make gift-basket items for auction. All donations are tax-deductible.

Donations can be dropped off at The Hangout in Cottonwood, the YWCA office in Grangeville, the USDA office in Nezperce, and the Cottonwood Community Credit Union in Craigmont.

For questions call Beckstead at 983-0888 or Debbie at The Hangout at 962-7383.
