Cottonwood News: Hattrup play set for Aug. 11-13

Donna Wassmuth Cottonwood 962-3561

— Chieftain: A Tale of Hidden Helpers is a musical theatrical production from an original script with three new songs written by Michael Hattrup, that you will not want to miss! It is a tale of Catholicism coming to the 11th century Vikings of Iceland, and how our guardian angels are always helping us. Come to support our young Catholic home school actors! All performances are at Summit Academy Gym in Cottonwood, Aug. 11, 12, and 13, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at 6:30 p.m., and a Sunday matinee at 1 p.m. There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted to cover production costs. Concessions will be available for purchase, including tacos at the Sunday performances. This is a group of amazing performers.

Food Bank: The Tri-Parish parishioners did such a wonderful job contributing to the Cottonwood Food Bank during the 40 Cans for 40 Days Lent Campaign, but the shelves are getting bare and we are asking again. Bring food items and personal care items to church and leave them in baskets or boxes in entrances and someone will be sure to bring them to the Food Bank.

Idaho residents will soon have to dial 10 digits for local calls rather than the seven that we have used in the past. Starting Saturday, Aug. 5, it will be mandatory to use the new system, as a new area code, 986, will go into effect on September 5th. A message will tell you to dial the area code if you forget. So, reprogram your auto dial on your home phone and your cell phone. The reason for this is they are running out of numbers for new people to use.

Combines are running in the fields as of last week. The weather is predicted to get hot and hotter which is good for harvest, but it makes it bad for the people working out in the heat. It takes lots of water to keep the lawn and flower gardens green.

No Evening Mass at Holy Cross Sunday evening of Aug. 20.

Have you figured out what you are taking to enter in the fair this year? It makes it more fun when you enter things and compete for the ribbons. I encourage the kids to enter pictures or crafts that they have made this year.
