Elk City News: Elk City Days are next weekend

Jamie Edmondson Elk City 842-2452

— “Into the Woods” is this year’s theme for Elk City Days (Aug. 11/12) and the schedule is as follows:

Friday is the Kids’ Parade at 5 p.m., followed by two great events – the baseball game between the Town Folks and the USFS at 6 p.m. After that, at 7 p.m., is the special presentation by Linda Lanier honoring our veterans.

On Saturday, get up early for the VFW Auxiliary breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Then get the kids up to the Elk City airport for the Ping Pong ball drop starting a 9 a.m.

The Grand Parade will start at 11 a.m., but if you are participating be sure to be in the lineup early. Since “Into the Woods” is the theme this year, wonder if anyone will dress up as a tree?

The Sawdust Dig for the kids will go from noon to 6 p.m. While the kids are digging, catch the logging events from 1 to 4 p.m., across the street.

In case you missed last week’s announcement, the grand marshals for Elk City Days are Jeff and Nita Maxwell.

Birthdays: Gabe Sherrer
