— Grangeville Police are currently investigating a Sunday evening indecent exposure incident at Lions Park involving two children as reported victims.

“We don’t have any known suspects at this point,” said Chief Morgan Drew, and police are following leads based on the physical descriptions given.

Subject is a white male, around 5’8” to 5’9”, somewhat heavy-set with somewhat longish hair. He was wearing glasses and a gray T-shirt with a nondescript green pattern.

The incident was called into Idaho County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 6:44 p.m. on July 30, having occurred behind the baseball diamond that backs up to Three Mile Creek. Three juveniles were in the area of the creek, and the man came up to two -- both around age 10.

“They said he said something they couldn’t understand,” Drew said. “Then he pulled his penis out of his fly. They saw that and took off, which was the right thing to do.” The juveniles then went to their grandmother’s home, and police were contacted.

Drew advises caution for the public and a heightened awareness: “If they see something strange, call us and we’ll check it out and see if it’s related.”

No further incidents of this sort have been reported since Sunday, according to Drew, and that he hasn’t heard of such incidents occurring within the city, at least within his nearly six years as police chief.
