Mandatory GHS volleyball meeting set for Aug. 9

GRANGEVILLE – The GHS volleyball meeting is set for Wednesday, Aug. 9, 6:30 p.m., in the GHS gym. Parent and player must attend. Tryouts will be Aug. 11, 12, and 14, 9-11:30 a.m., and 2-4:30 p.m. each day.

Fall chinook fishing season opens Aug. 18

Idaho Fish and Game Commission adopted a fall chinook salmon fishing season to open Aug. 18 on parts of the Snake, Clearwater and Salmon rivers.

Areas opening for fall chinook fishing on August 18, 2017 are as follows:

The Snake River from the Washington/Idaho border upstream to Cliff Mountain Rapids (about a mile downstream of Hells Canyon Dam). It is scheduled to remain open until notice or Oct. 31, whichever comes first.

The Snake River from Hells Canyon Dam downstream to Cliff Mountain Rapids. It is scheduled to remain open until notice or Nov. 17.

The Clearwater River, from its mouth upstream to Memorial Bridge, is scheduled to remain open until notice or Oct. 31.

The daily bag limit is six adult fall chinook salmon, and the possession limit is 18.

Anglers who harvested 20 chinook during spring and summer seasons are allowed to fish for fall chinook.

Salmon River, from its mouth upstream about three-fourths of a mile to Eye of the Needle Rapids. It is scheduled to remain open until notice or Oct. 31.

The 2017 Snake River Basin fall chinook forecast is 27,190 natural or hatchery fish. Last year's actual return was 37,400 fall chinook.
