— My quote of the week is “Your County Fair is one of the best events of the summer season. It closes summer, opens school, and brings on the fall season.” See you at the Idaho County Fair in Cottonwood today and the rest of the week.

Run happy, Run grumpy, Run speedy, Run slow, Run a little, Run a lot…just Run at our Riggins Salmon Run Saturday, Sept. 9. Our Riggins Salmon Run which takes place on the road along the banks of the Salmon River is a family event…5k-$25, 10k-$35, or 13.1-$45. Register now at www.raceentry.com/races/riggins-salmon-run/2017/register; receive a 10% discount when you add 5 or more people to the cart at registration. Contact Mariah Crump for more info.

The Salmon River Cowboys Association still has room for family or business signs to be displayed on the back of the wooden bleachers at the Riggins Rodeo Grounds. The donations for the signs will help pay for the metal bleachers that were installed just prior to our 2017 Riggins Rodeo. Contact Joni Shepherd if you would like to purchase a sign which has a seven to eight-year life or more.

The 90th birthday celebration honoring Leola Campbell was a huge success! She was surrounded by nearly 200 family members as well as friends who stopped by to offer hugs and good wishes. She was presented with a “90th” birthday balloon as well as 90 red, white, and blue balloons! Some family members enjoyed a raft trip on the Salmon River before the birthday party…no, Leola did not go on the raft trip. Visiting went on until dark even through the 17 drops of rain! Family and friends had sent “memories” via email that they had made into a book for Leola…it is also available online for those who wished to have a copy.
