Preliminary hearings Friday for two Kamiah men in unrelated felony lewd conduct cases

Preliminary hearings are set this Friday, Sept. 1, for two Kamiah men charged in unrelated cases with felony lewd conduct with a minor under 16.

Michael Douglas Corey, 30, was arrested on the charge for alleged inappropriate physical conduct with a 6-year-old on or between June 1-30 this year. According to court records, one or more incidents were to have taken place at the Kamiah rodeo grounds, located within Idaho County.

The matter was reported to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) on July 19, which investigated the case, and subsequently Idaho County Prosecutor Kirk MacGregor summoned Corey into court concerning the charge.

Aaron R. Patton, 21, was arrested at his residence without incident earlier this month, following ICSO investigation of an alleged lewd conduct incident reported Aug. 12 in White Bird.

According to ICSO and court reports, Patton is alleged to have had inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old juvenile, witnessed by the victim’s brother.

The purpose of a preliminary hearing is to determine whether there is sufficient evidence in the case to show probable cause for it to be bound over to district court to stand trial.
