Rehder celebrates 90th birthday

— The public is invited to an open house to celebrate Barbara (Koepl) Rehder’s 90th birthday Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Cottonwood Community Hall from 1-4 p.m. It is asked no gifts be brought.

Rehder was born in Nezperce, Idaho, in 1927, to Joe and Anna Koepl. Barbara attended St. Gertrude’s Academy for one year and graduated from Nezperce High School in 1945. She married Lee Rehder in Nezperce on June 21, 1949, and they ran a dairy and farmed near Cottonwood Butte. She also worked 25 years at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood and retired in 2003. She and Lee had one daughter and six sons. He died Nov. 25, 2015.

She enjoys being with her seven children, 32 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, extended family and many friends. She has never known a stranger. She enjoys her ladies club, church activities, pinochle, and is an avid Gonzaga men’s basketball fan.
