Salmon River’s volleyball team hit a new milestone this fall: for the first time since coach Paula Tucker rebooted the program in 2014, the Savages have enough players to play against each other in practice.
Their numerical limitations haven’t kept the Savages from finding their way to the top of the Long Pin Conference, from which they have gone on to play at state each of the last two Octobers. But the SRHS girls are at no disadvantage this fall.
“The 14 out are the most we’ve had,” Tucker said. “We can actually scrimmage — and we’re working on scheduling a JV.”
Four top players return: Chevelle Shepherd, Payton Branstetter, Emily Diaz and Miranda Hofflander. Add three freshmen: setter Lotus Harper, outside hitter Sofie Branstetter and middle Jordyn Pottenger.
The Savages will hold their third annual home tournament Sept. 2.
