— We went up to Cottonwood Butte to get our Christmas trees Sunday. It was beautiful weather and a fun day. There was not much snow up there yet.

The Advent Penance Services are all at 7 each night. Thursday, Dec. 14, St. Anthony’s, Greencreek. Monday, Dec. 18, St. Mary’s, Cottonwood; Tuesday, Dec. 19, Sts. Peter & Paul, Grangeville; and Wednesday, Dec. 20, Holy Trinity, Nezperce.

Summit Academy’s school Nativity Program will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14, 7 p.m., at the school. Join us as we celebrate the coming of our Savior through drama, music and dance. All age/classes are part of the program!

The liturgy committee requests assistance in decorating our churches. All three churches will decorate on Sunday, Dec. 17. Assumption plans to start decorating at 9 a.m., Sunday morning. St. Anthony will begin approximately 9:30 a.m., following the visit of Santa at the hall; and St. Mary’s will begin immediately following the 10 a.m. Mass. Men are needed also!

Bring the kids to the Greencreek Hall immediately after the 8 a.m. Mass for a visit from Santa. Santa will have treats for the kids as well as maple bars and juice provided by the St. Anthony Society.

Mass schedule for the Christmas season is as follows:

Saturday, Dec. 23, 5 p.m., Assumption; 7 p.m., St. Anthony’s; Sunday, Dec. 24, 9 a.m., St. Mary’s; Sunday, Dec. 24, 5 p.m., St. Mary’s; 7 p.m., at Assumption and St. Anthony’s; Monday, Dec. 25, midnight at St. Mary’s; and 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s. Saturday, Dec. 30, 5 p.m., Assumption; Sunday, Dec. 31, 8 a.m., St. Anthony’s; 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s; Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s. Since the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God, Jan. 1, 2018, falls on a Monday it is not observed as a Holy Day of Obligation, granted by Bishop Peter Christensen. It remains a Solemnity and is an important celebration in the life of the Church. The faithful are encouraged to attend Mass.

Mass times will change on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Sunday Mass times for the whole year will be: St. Mary’s, 8 a.m., and St. Anthony’s, 10 a.m.
