Cottonwood

•Emmanuel Baptist Church, 404 Foster Street, will have Christmas Eve morning service Sunday, Dec. 24, 10 a.m. This will include a performance of the Christmas cantata “O Holy Night.” The 6 p.m. service will be a candlelight service with the performance of the Christmas Cantata, followed with light refreshments served in the fellowship hall. All are welcome.

•The Monastery of St. Gertrude, 465 Keuterville Road, Cottonwood, will hold a variety of Christmas services. Christmas Eve Mass is set for Sunday, Dec. 24, 7:30 p.m. (Caroling will begin at 7 p.m.). Christmas Day Mass on Dec. 25 is set for 11:30 a.m. A Christmas Concert, “A Prairie Christmas,” will be held Sunday, Dec. 31, 2 p.m.

•Catholic parishes: Planning ahead for Christmas and New Year’s Mass (are subject to change if needed):

Saturday, Dec. 23, for Sunday Liturgy: 5 p.m. at Assumption and 7 p.m. at St. Anthony

Sunday, Dec 24, for Sunday Liturgy, 9 a.m., at St. Mary’s

Masses for Christmas: Sunday, Dec. 24, 5 p.m., St. Mary’s; 7 p.m. at Assumption and 7 p.m.at St. Anthony.

Monday, Dec 25, Midnight Mass at St. Mary’s, 10 a.m.

Saturday, Dec. 30, for Sunday Liturgy, 5 p.m. at Assumption.

Sunday, Dec. 31, for Sunday Liturgy: 8 a.m. at St. Anthony and 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s.

Mass for Holy Day – Solemnity of Mary Mother of God: Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s*

•Since the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God, Jan. 1, 2018, falls on a Monday in 2018, it is not observed as a Holy Day of Obligation, granted by Bishop Peter Christensen. It remains a Solemnity and is an important celebration in the life of the Church. The faithful are encouraged to attend Mass.

•The Cottonwood collection site of Idaho County Recycling will be closed Saturday, Dec. 23 (before Christmas). As winter begins, patrons are asked to remember that the site will automatically close if the temperatures dip drastically in order to prevent any undue discomfort for volunteers.

Elk City

•Elk City School will host its annual Christmas dinner, program and visit with Santa, Tuesday, Dec. 19, 5 p.m., at the school.

Grangeville

•Grangeville Elementary Middle School’s band concert is set for Thursday, Dec. 14, 7 p.m.

•Toys for Tots distribution in Grangeville is set for Saturday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Idaho County Veterans and Community Outreach Center at 318 East Main Street.

Call for sign-up prior to Dec. 10: Julie Bentley, 208-983-2183 (leave a message). Collection boxes for donated toys are at the following locations: Camas Lanes, the Veterans Center, Umpqua Bank and Larson’s in Grangeville and The Hangout in Cottonwood.

•The Grangeville Lions Club’s annual Christmas Tree sale continues every weekend through Dec. 17. The tree sale is located at Green Acres and runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 17.

•The Sts. Peter and Paul School Christmas program is set for Wednesday, Dec. 13, 7:15 p.m.

•Santa comes to Bell Equipment Friday, Dec. 15, 3 to 6 p.m. Stop in at 118 West South Street for a visit with Santa, to see all the Christmas toys and have some hot cocoa.

•Grangeville Church of the Nazarene will have a teen Christmas party Saturday, Dec. 16, 6 p.m. Call 208-983-0552.

•The Eagles, Aerie 539, will be host to its annual kids Christmas sale, Saturday, Dec. 16, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Eagles Hall on C Street. Children are invited to stop in and shop for their parents with a volunteer while their parents wait, have coffee and cookies. Children shop with volunteers and have a chance to have their gifts wrapped and labeled, therefore offering a surprise to their families. Items are reasonably priced; come with a list or make a list that day. Donations accepted. Call Shirley Crane at 208-507-2320.

•The Grangeville Church of the Nazarene will host its annual Breakfast with Santa, Saturday, Dec. 16, 10 to noon. Families are welcome to bring their children for breakfast, stories and pictures with Santa.

•”Mary’s Song,” a sweet musical nativity presented at Centennial Evangelical Free Church, 408 N. College is set for Sunday, Dec. 17, 6:3O p.m., to be followed by a potluck cookie fellowship. All are welcome to attend.

•Grangeville United Methodist Church, 404 W. Main Street, will be host to a Choir Advent Concert Sunday, Dec. 17, 3 p.m., at the church.

•Grangeville Gospel Tabernacle will present a family Christmas program Sunday evening, Dec. 17, 6 p.m. Special music, recitations, scripture reading and more will be featured. Refreshments will be served following the program. Pastor Billy Wikoff invites all to attend.

•Santa Story Time at the Grangeville Centennial Library is set for Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 11-11:30 a.m.

•Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 311 South Hall Street, will be host to a Christmas Eve service Sunday, Dec. 24, at 10 a.m., followed by brunch.

•Grangeville Church of the Nazarene will hold Sunday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve services at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. All are invited.

•Grangeville Christian Church will host its regular Sunday morning service Sunday, Dec. 24, and the candlelight communion service Christmas Eve at 7 p.m.

•Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, Centennial Evangelical Free Church will host a candlelight and roses service at 5 p.m., at 408 N. College. This service features traditional Christmas music and an inspirational Christmas story in less than an hour to allow family to get home to Christmas Eve dinner and family traditions.

•Centennial Evangelical Free Church will host a New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, potluck and talent/no talent show! Potluck begins at 6 p.m., with the “show” to follow at about 7 p.m. at 408 N. College in Grangeville.

Kamiah

•Faith Lutheran Church, located at 6th and Idaho Streets, will host weekly worship every Sunday at 11 a.m. Each Sunday in December will be special Advent services with lighting an Advent candle. Candlelight Christmas Eve service with Holy Communion is at 5 p.m. at the church Sunday, Dec. 24.

•Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 7th and Idaho streets, will host several Christmas services. Christmas Eve Mass will be held Dec. 24 at 7 p.m.; Christmas Day Mass is set for Dec. 25 at 8 a.m.; and New Year’s Day Mass is set for 8 a.m. Jan. 1, 2018.

Kooskia

•Clearwater Valley Junior Senior High School’s Winter Concert is set for Wednesday, Dec. 13, 7 p.m., in the CVHS cafeteria. This will feature both bands and choirs in 6-12 grades playing and singing Christmas and holiday music.

Riggins

•Royal Rangers and Girls Ministries of the Riggins Assembly of God Church will be Christmas Caroling Sunday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m.

•Riggins Elementary School Christmas Program will be presented Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m., in the SRHS multi-purpose room.

•Riggins Assembly of God Church will have its annual Christmas Eve Service Sunday, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join the hourlong service

White Bird

•White Bird Christmas lighting parade is set for downtown Dec. 16, with lineup at 5 p.m., parade at 6 p.m. with music and dance at the IOOF Hall afterwards.
