Have you seen the new Mountain View School District 244 app? Go to your App or Google Play store and download MVSD 244’s app for free. Keep it on your phone screen for easy access to school news. It’s a great way to keep updated on what’s going on!
Have you looked around your community for Christmas gifts? Hailey and I had a productive day in some of the area’s thrift stores. We found some great things at both Mager Bargains in Cottonwood and Second Hand Treasures in Fenn. Last week, I helped outfit an entire tree at Syringa Thrift. Also, check out not only all the local stores, but also the gas stations for some great ideas for stocking stuffers!
We had lunch at The Hangout in Cottonwood and had a good discussion on fry sauce with owner Debbie. She and Hailey agreed there are things they just don’t want to eat without fry sauce. She sent Hailey home with a quart of sauce! We also learned her secret ingredient, but if we told you we’d have to … you know. Mum’s the word.
Riggins’ Whitewater Market moves to new location Dec. 20
RIGGINS — Whitewater Market in Riggins will be closed Dec. 18 and 19 so it can move to its new location at 131 S. Main Street. The store will be open at the new building Wednesday, Dec. 20, 7 a.m. and will be open daily 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Call 208-628-3281. Watch for the upcoming grand opening information.
You have probably already heard that Family Dollar purchased the former King’s stores in Orofino and Grangeville. According to a recent short story in the Tribune, the Orofino location is set to open in January 2018 and the Grangeville one in March 2018. I have not received a call back from the head company, but know the parent company is Dollar Tree. Stay tuned for news on Grangeville’s store! (And if you aren’t sure what Dollar Tree is, check out the new store in New Meadows next time you drive through).
Kamiah Chamber of Commerce will hold its general meeting and annual holiday party tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Welcome Center (chamber building). Social time and snacks start at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting at 7 p.m. Bring appetizers; drinks will be served.
Congratulations to the Grangeville High School Class of 2018 Senior Fun Night Shopping Spree winners: Joni Lyman, Robin Courtright, Sheila Arnzen, Denise Nuxoll and Dan Gautney. One things that’s great about this is, each person will have $1,000 to spend at an Idaho County business. These are businesses that support our kids all year long and here’s a chance for us to support them. Thanks to everyone who participated in any way.
Funny side story: Hailey and I were in Syringa Thrift when we ran into Robin and Lori Courtright and they purchased some calendar raffle tickets from Hailey. We had a little visit with Robin who told us he is “very lucky” and wins quite a few of these things. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but look who was a winner here! If Robin wins in the calendar raffle, I’m taking him to Vegas with me for my 50th birthday in June!
By the way, seniors are currently selling the calendar raffle tickets and $1 candy bars. Ask me if you need a ticket or two or a few candy bars!
