Sharon Owens has been on the job for 11 years and cannot imagine her life any other way.
“I work in this home full of grandpas and grandmas,” she smiled. “It’s one big family.”
Owens is a RNA/CNA who works daily with GHR residents.
“As a restorative aide, I help them with mobility and getting the most out of their lives,” she explained. After residents go through OT and PT, she and a colleague work with them in GHR’s gym in a variety of ways to help build their strength and to keep them active.
Owens moved from California to live in Grangeville where she resides with her husband, Jamie Bentley. She has five children ages 9 to 18, as well as four stepchildren.
“This is a wonderful place to raise children. I love it here and cannot imagine being anywhere else,” she said.
Owens was raised in the care industry as both her grandmas worked in the care center and/or home health settings.
“I grew up with it, and I enjoy the residents so much – they really are family,” she said.
She previously worked with in-home care and also spent some time driving a forklift and loader.
When she isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, mainly in the outdoors where they like to snowmobile, ride ATVs, hunt, fish and swim.
“I’m really fortunate because I love my job,” she said. “It’s a great place to come to work.”
