Travel with care on national forest due to log haulilng activity

Weather conditions, volume of work may impact travel of winter recreationists

Visitors to the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests should travel with care on Forest Service roads, as log hauling is still taking place on several timber sales across the forest.

Trucks are hauling on Saturdays, as well as weekdays, due to weather conditions and volume of work, which may impact some winter recreationists.

Roads impacted by this timber activity are posted with “Truck Traffic” and “Logging Operations” signs, as well as the CB channel being used. Several additional roads are plowed, but are under seasonal or other necessary closure orders for public health and safety and remain closed to other than official traffic. Visit for closure orders and updates.

Several groomed snowmobile routes will be partially plowed. This activity has been coordinated with the appropriate grooming board, and alternate parking has been arranged. For information, contact the local Forest Service office or snowmobile club.
