White Bird

White Bird

Toni Baker 983-7701

White Christmas, here we come. It’s going to be a white one and cold, so remember to bundle up and make sure the animals and your pipes are ok too.

Since this is an early deadline, some of my news will have passed, but will get the year end stuff in and some for the new 2018.

Ring in the New Year with a dinner/dance at Hoot’s Café on Dec. 31. Dinner will be served from 5-8 p.m. with the music by Dave, Joaquin and Verna starting at 8 p.m. Call for reservations at 208-839-2265; there will be a small charge for this.

I will have the results of the cribbage and pinochle games next week for you all.

The Community Library would like to let everyone know they have sold out of the calendars, as this is one of their top moneymakers. We want to thank all of you who purchased our calendar. If you did not get a copy, and still wish to purchase one, there will be a sign-up sheet at the library or call 208-839-2805. We need a commitment in advance before we place an additional order. Due to shipping costs, the calendar may cost a little bit more than the $10. Again, thank you for your continued support of this project.

Red’s Café would like to let everyone know they are now open again! They closed early on Dec. 24, were closed on Christmas Day and the 26th. They reopen today, Wednesday, the 27th. Merry Christmas to all!

WBARD will be once again holding their potluck breakfasts beginning on Jan. 28 at 8 a.m. This will be on the last Sunday of the month. Future dates are Feb. 25 and March 25.

More information on Jug Smith’s memorial service. They will be holding it on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018. This will take place at the IOOF Hall in White Bird for anyone wishing to attend.

The food bank pickup is on Jan. 4th at noon.

Birthday wishes for the rest of Dec. go out to Kaci Yoakum (24th), Orrin Farmer (25th), Brooke Hendren, Terry Eller, Sara Dalgliesh, Rick Alley (26th), Phil Talley, Cory Godwin, Amber Farmer, Richard Galberth, Tonya Cullin (27th, Rachel Franzen, Connor West (28th), Shaylon Lyon, Marryann Carlin (29th), Michelle Dobbs, Chad Montgomery (30th), Matt Fee, Heather Tyson, Ed Clark, and Sam Hagen (31st).

In Memory of Ralph Dawson (24th), Carolyn Wood (25th), and Gladys Sickels (26th).

Anniversary wishes go out to Gary & Bobbie Cook (26th), David & Kira Norton (27th), Wes & Delsie (29th), Ray & Lisa Holes (30th), and Barbara & Brian Lowe, Pete & Monica Lucarelli (31st).

TidBits: Here’s a cute poem that I came across – hope you all enjoy!

It’s wintertime in Idaho, and the gentle breezes blow

Seventy miles an hour, at 35 below.

...oh, how I love Idaho, When the snow’s up to your butt

You take a breath of winter, and your nose gets frozen shut.

Yes, the weather here is wonderful, so I guess I’ll hang around

I could never leave Idaho, cuz I’m frozen to the ground!

Happy New Year’s to everyone – stay safe and will see ya’ in 2018!
