Sponsored content: Keep your kids safe on their ATVs

With winter on the way out, ATV enthusiasts are gearing up for the coming season. And that goes for the kids who will be riding soon, too.

“Kids ATV safety is very important to us here at Bud’s PowerSports, and it should be to you too, so do your part and teach them the do's and don’ts of a fun, safe ride,” Bud’s PowerSports service technician Lee Huntley said.

The same goes for experienced riders.

“Wearing the right protective gear is very important,” Huntley said. “Sometimes there is a tendency that we are so used to riding our ATVs that we think we can handle our machine well enough and do not need to wear any protective gear”

Bud’s PowerSports offers a selection of helmets, goggles, boots, long sleeve shirts, long pants and other gear.

“It’s a mistake to take it for granted,” Huntley said. “We know and are confident about operating our ATVs, but we shouldn’t do away with all these things. If you see your kids walking out the door without being properly dressed for their ATV rid-ing trip, stop them and make sure that they are wearing all the necessary protective gear, before you let them go. There have been too many cases of head injuries due to ATV accidents because the riders were not wearing their helmets.”

Courses on ATV safety basics are offered locally. “There are also some very good ATV safety courses out there for children and for adults,” Huntley said. “I would recommend getting your kids involved in them.”
