Jerrell and Trevor slide down the hill at Elk City’s annual sledding day held on Jan. 1.
As of Tuesday, January 3, 2017
ELK CITY Let’s pray that this New Year will be one of peace for our community as well as our country.
The New Year’s Day sledding party was great fun for all who attended. Sun shining…a beautiful day to be out playing in the snow. The photo shows Jerrell and Trevor having a great time together taking that long sled ride down into the meadow. Thanks to all who organized the party.
With all the snow this year, Jeff Maxwell, captain of the Elk City Volunteer Fire Department, asks all to keep fire hydrant areas clear for winter access. If you need assistance with this, call him at 842-2380.
For the readers from out of town, our power went out last week about 8 p.m., and didn’t come on until 9 a.m. the next morning with temperatures almost to zero degrees. The Avista crews don’t get to choose when they work or how long it takes until they get the job done. They have to work in all kinds of weather and sometimes on very steep terrain. Even though we may not be a main line, and may even be a loss for them, they work and make us feel as important as if the line was going into the White House! I know the whole area appreciates their hard work. Thank you, Avista!
Meetings: Elk City Area Alliance on the 9th; EMT on the 10th.
Anniversaries: Bill and Sue Phillips.
