Sentencing set in felony plane theft case

— The suspect in last year’s theft of an aircraft out of Riggins is set for judgment later this month. Michael C. McReynolds, 28, of White Bird, is charged with felony grand theft. A change of plea and sentencing hearing is set Jan. 24.

According to an Idaho County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) investigation, McReynolds is alleged to have taken the homebuilt Para Sender experimental aircraft on Aug. 31, 2016, from where it was parked on a trailer at a pullout outside of Riggins.

As reported by the Free Press last fall, on Sept. 2, while ICSO deputies were on paper service at McReynold’s residence on Old Highway 95 regarding an unrelated theft of services case, a trailer with tarps covering an aircraft was noted on the property, matching the description of the items stolen two days prior. After a search warrant was secured, deputies recovered the stolen trailer and aircraft, along with multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
