Man charged with felony assault by sword

GRANGEVILLE – A Jan. 27 preliminary hearing is set for a Grangeville man accused of striking his mother with a sword.

John H. Dasenbrock, 36, is charged with felony aggravated battery.

The charge resulted from a Jan. 17 incident at a West North 6th residence. According to court records, Dasenbrock was involved in an argument with Cheryl Dasenbrock, who had told her son she did not want his collection of swords in the house. John is reported to have gotten angry an allegedly struck her on the head with and object, reported by a witness as a bayonet, causing a laceration on her forehead. Cheryl was transported to Syringa Hospital for treatment.

Grangeville Police Officer Wes Walters investigated the incident, with assistance from GPD Chief Morgan Drew.

Boise man arrested in Ada County on local felony possession charge

GRANGEVILLE — Joshua B. Manley, 27, of Boise, is set for a Jan. 25 arraignment hearing in Idaho County District Court on a felony possession charge involving stolen property from a Garden City burglary.

Manley was arrested Jan. 11 by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office on the Idaho County warrant.

As reported in the Jan. 11 issue of the Idaho County Free Press, Manley was sought by law enforcement for his alleged involvement in the burglary of a Garden City warehouse, owned by Maravia Corporation between Dec. 9-12, 2016. An estimated $40,000 in outdoor gear – from rafts to high-end coolers – was taken.

A Jan. 3 warrant search was executed by the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office and Garden City Police of property where Manley had a storage building, and detectives recovered approximately $15,000 of the stolen property.

Kamiah man charged with felony assault by knife

KAMIAH – A Jan. 27 preliminary hearing is set for Arthur Jay Meola of Kamiah for an alleged felony assault with a knife.

Meola was charged with aggravated assault following a Jan. 18 incident at the KOA Campground on U.S. Highway 12, milepost 68. According to court records, Meola is alleged to have used a steak knife to threaten to stab a campground employee whom he accused of hiding a person Meola suspected of having an affair with his fiancée.

The case was investigated by the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office.

Kooskia man charged with felony assault by pistol

KOOSKIA – Michael D. Anderberg, 59, of Kooskia, is charged with felony aggravated assault for allegedly threatening to shoot his son. Anderberg is set for a Jan. 27 preliminary hearing in District Court.

The charge follows a Jan. 18 incident at a Tinker Lane residence in which Anderberg was involved in an argument with his son, Josh. According to court records, Anderberg is alleged to have retrieved his Smith and Wesson .357 magnum pistol, loaded with five rounds and allegedly pointed it at Josh and verbally threatened to shoot him.

The case was investigated by the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office.
