District tournaments set but seeds still shifting

Girls basketball

The girls basketball playoffs start in February, and when the tournaments open early next month, here’s how they will go.

In the Long Pin Conference — in which the Salmon River girls may yet claim the top seed — the tournament will be played at Meadows Valley High School starting Feb. 2. The top seed will have a bye and will open at 6 p.m. MT Feb. 4.

Action will proceed through a double-elimination bracket, with the second and third seeds to play each other at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4. Also vying for top seeds in the Long Pin are Council and Tri-Valley.

The district title will be decided at 7:30 p.m. MT on Feb. 5.

In the Whitepine League, both divisions will hold play-in games on Monday, Jan. 30.

The upper division will proceed on Jan. 31 at LCSC, with the top two seeds on bye until Feb. 2. The lower division will proceed on Feb. 4 at LCSC, with the top seeds on bye until Feb. 6.

Both WPL tournaments will continue through Feb. 10. The upper division district title game will be played at 7:30 p.m. that night, while the lower division title will be determined Feb. 7.

The Central Idaho League tournament will be single elimination at Genesee Feb. 4-9.
