Toni Baker 983-7701

— Mother Nature is sure not giving up this year. Another round of snow has come and temperatures are still hovering around the 20s. Stay safe and drive according to the conditions, black ice can be a killer also as you don’t really see it.

If you do choose to stay in, remember the library has some really great books that you can curl up with on these cold nights. Hours are Tuesday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and on Thursdays, 1-4 p.m. They also still have some calendars for sale if you happen to need a 2017 one. Great pictures and stories in it.

Some of you will say it’s a few months off, but the White Bird Rodeo will be having their queen tryouts on Saturday, March 18, starting at the arena at 1 p.m. (PST). Young ladies who are interested or may want information, call Kami at 983-1726 (h) or 983-8776 (cell).

Dates for the 28th Annual White Bird Rodeo have been set for Friday, June 16th and Saturday, June 17th with more information coming up.

Coming home from our meeting, for the first time I finally saw elk in the park right below the Indian Monument. There were about 30-40 head munching on the rare green grass, so Monty pulled over for me, but all I have was my phone so not really great pictures, but it was nice to see the animals are surviving the winter.

The end of January is closing in on us, so that means the WBARD will be having their breakfast on Sunday, Jan. 29th. This will run from 8-10 a.m., and is the last Sunday of every month.

Due to the fog last Friday, the game board night was only attended by a few brave people who ventured out into the weather. Puzzles were attempted to be put together and a lot of visiting went on. Remember, these are every Friday, so if you’re feeling house bound and want a few minutes out, come on down to the WBARD from 6-9 p.m.

The winter shoot at the gun club is going full swing with shooters braving the cold temperatures. They had 24 shooters this last Sunday with Gordon Barner shooting 25, Wade Sickels shooting 24 and Boyd Hopkins, Steve Duerkson, and Jim McMahon all shooting 23. Keep up the good work guys.

Birthdays this week are Melvin Cash, Kurt Urbahn, Shawn Smith, Gina Heath, Randy Zumwalt, Jenny Hanson, Roy Allen Farmer, Shayla Wassmuth, Heather Kunkel, Bryson Robinett, Dave Hueth, Jim Goulette, Eric Martin, Bill Spickelmire, Carolyn Anderson, Jon Taylor, and Cody Farmer.

Anniversary wishes go out to Paul & Kathryn VanAcker and Dale & Kelly Rosenbaum.
