Lowell / Syringa News: ‘Dog days’ bring families in

Marie Smith 208-926-0803

— Family reunions upriver, cousins, brothers, sisters, mom, dad, gramma, and gramps, too. They bring their dogs, they float the river, they roast marshmallows and barbecue steaks and hot dogs. They fish, they hike, they go out on their ATVs and horses; they are having a good time in Idaho.

The Shotskos, the Eiselies, the Robinettes, the Nuxolls, Simmons, Johnsons, and the Hagaharas; it’s the dog days of summer and all that it brings!

Mick Weimer came into my office just now — what a great guy. Retired teacher from Lewiston, first thing he said was, “How old are you?” I’ll tell my age but not my weight! Anyway, he was such a character and he knew everyone who walked in the door for the half hour he was here. Nonstop talker, just high on life! I like that guy, and all he stopped for was to tell me he reads my article every week.
