Bulldog football camp set to run Aug. 8-9

GRANGEVILLE — The 2017 Bulldog Football Camp for grades 4-8 will go next month, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 8-9, at the GHS football field. Cost is $35. Register by Aug. 3 to guarantee T-shirt.

The camp is non-contact and will focus on fundamentals and offense-defense-special teams development. Lunch is included.

GHS football parents, coaches to convene

GRANGEVILLE — GHS football will start Aug. 8 at Grangeville High School with the players combine beginning at 5 p.m. and parents meeting at 7 p.m. Regular practice will begin the next day. All players will need to have compliant physicals.

The first game is Aug. 25.

Soccer sign-ups set

GRANGEVILLE — GHS soccer practice starts Aug. 7 and players and parents are asked to sign up at 6:30 p.m. July 31 at the GHS Library.

The girls open Aug. 19 and the boys open Aug. 22.

Football refs sought

LEWISTON — Recruitment is under way for new football officials for high school and junior high school football in Idaho’s District II.

The first meeting, which is the annual state clinic, will be held Monday, July 31 at 7 p.m. at the Lewiston High School Auditorium. Additional meetings will take place throughout August.

Games are played late August through mid-November. Officials in District II work junior high up to varsity level games at schools stretching from Grangeville to Potlatch. Games take place nearly every night of the week with most varsity games reserved for Friday nights. To register online, visit the Idaho High School Activities Association website at, click on the Officials tab and follow the instructions. Registration is open from July 12 through August 14 and is $40 if registration is completed by August 14. After August 14, the cost is $65.

Grangeville swim meet set

The Grangeville Swim Team has meets scheduled July 22 at Nezperce and Aug. 5 in Grangeville.

Kooskia Days softball game scheduled

KOOSKIA — The Diehard Sports Association is once again sponsoring an old-fashioned “Home Town Coed Softball Game” as part of the Kooskia Days celebration.

The game will be played at 6 p.m. Aug. 4 at Kooskia City Park. All are invited to watch and ages 16 and up are invited to play. Teams will be picked from whoever shows up. Registration is at 5:30 p.m. Contact Ruth Mohr, 208-926-7203.

JAKES Day scheduled

The Camas Prairie Turkey Trackers chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation has scheduled JAKES Day this Aug. 5, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Camas Prairie Bowmen’s Range south of Grangeville.

The event is for youth ages 6-14 and the cost is $10 for those not currently NWTF junior members. Activities include rifle shooting, archery shooting, trapshooting, muzzleloader demonstration, fly casting and a survival session.
