Resemble pigs running to the trough for government handouts

Letters to the Editor

When push came to shove, we now find that there is a large number of Congress members who think that socialism is still the way to go with the “new healthcare plan.”

A number of so-called Republicans won’t go along with the present proposal because it doesn’t include enough new entitlements! And they are afraid to tell the American people that Medicaid is, in fact, an out-of-control welfare program that should be reduced in time, not increased.

Regretfully, even President Trump shows a willingness to retain vote-buying socialism in the new legislation. For instance: Pre-existing coverage for everyone is just plain ridiculous … try buying your vehicle collision coverage after you wreck your car!

We all have the right to purchase insurance, not to have it provided to us with taxpayers’ money via our government.

Sadly, there is a significant number of Americans who, when offered some form of government (taxpayer funded) handout, resemble pigs running to the trough, and once hooked, they will never vote for anyone who might reduce it or take it away.

Just look at what’s happened to the food stamp program. They’ve even changed it to resemble an ordinary credit card so that recipients can avoid possible embarrassment.

The Republicans are now losing the very support that won them the last election. It only remains which party will destroy our country’s economy first.
