— A memorable Flag Retirement Ceremony was presented in Elk City by VFW Wilderness Post 8311 on Flag Day June 14. The program reminded all present of the true meaning of our United States Flag; the importance of it through war and peace and demonstrated proper disposal when a flag has become faded, worn or tattered.

Following the ceremony, cookies, coffee and punch were served by the VFW Auxiliary and U.S. Flags were presented to all of the local businesses by Auxiliary President Sheri Yarbrough.
