GRANGEVILLE In local events this Border Days Rodeo, there are 21 barrel racers and 13 team roping teams signed up.
The Lee Woods Memorial Team Roping will begin Saturday night, July 1, with each of the 13 teams set to go during the main event that night as well as the main events July 2 and July 3.
The local team roping teams are: Brett Edwards and Gabe Richardson, Jaycee Marek and Jim Marek, Clay Marek and Rick Fredrickson, Mackie Woods and Dace Woods, Cassie Woods and Clay Groom, Jenna Boggan and James Boggan, Katie Marek and Bill Marek, Cody Ruiz and Dean Klement, Tanner Hibbard and Brandon Duckworth, Ray Aiken Jr. and Reed Aiken, Austin Brannan and Konnyr Marek, Morgan Brannan and Bryden Brannan, and Anthony Verdino and Mark Bledsoe.
On July 1, the first five local barrel racers will go: Grace Vopat of Grangeville, Halie Anderson of Craigmont, Brittany Benavidez of Grangeville, Molly Johnson of Cottonwood and Emma Blanthorn of New Meadows. On July 2, eight will go: Dani Aiken of Grangeville, Kira Bentley of Grangeville, Josie Remacle of Cottonwood, Kaylee Paige of Grangeville, Colby Canaday of Grangeville, Lily Forsman of White Bird, Phoebe Rupp of Riggins, and Kendall Hodges of Grangeville. On July 3, eight more will go: Emmy Williams of Grangeville, Micaela Farris of Grangeville, Macenzie Farris of Grangeville, Emily Diaz of Riggins, Tyler Leaton of Kamiah, Bella Klapprich of Grangeville, Elli Klapprich of Grangeville, and Santana Simmons of Kamiah.
The rodeo begins with slack time at 10 a.m. July 1 and continues with the main event to run at 6 p.m. each of the next three nights.
