District website has information on where money being spent

Letter to the Editor

As a school board member I am not actively campaigning either for or against the upcoming supplemental levy. I do, however, get a lot of patrons complaining after the levy vote, they did not know there was a levy to vote on. So here is your notice.

There will be a levy vote for the amount of $2,663,246.00 held on next Tuesday March 14. You should also know how much you are paying and then make your decision to vote yes or no. What so many people do not realize is their levy assessment will exceed 50 percent of their property taxes. A letter to the editor a couple of weeks ago mistakenly stated that the figure was 43 percent. That was incorrect because the percent figured included the solid waste fee, which has absolutely nothing at all to do with property taxes. I own three homes in district 244. In every case with absolutely no exceptions, my levy amount exceeded 50 percent of my tax bill minus the solid waste fee. Tax bills are available at the county treasurer office and available to the public.

I feel an obligation as a board member to make sure the patrons know when and where to vote plus understand the cost to them. If you need more information, please visit the district website There is a lot of information there on where the money is being spent. Or call the district office, 208-983-0990.
