March 17 – pledge, Stanley Modrell; prayer, Barbara Essen; free dinner, Bob Talbot; meals at site: 105 with 35 hot and 53 frozen home-deliveries; pinochle: 1, Dolores Kindall 5660, 2, Mary Purdy 4830; other: Doreen Endsley birthday.
Menu: March 24 – minestrone soup, cornbread, strawberry Jell-O, mandarin oranges, broccoli/cauliflower salad; March 27 – oven-fried chicken, potato salad, baked beans, sliced tomatoes, mixed fruit cup.
Pioneer Senior Citizens
Dolores VonBargen opened the March 14 meeting of the Pioneer Senior Citizens with the Pledge of Allegiance and also gave the dinner prayer. Hilda Nuttman then added an additional Irish prayer.
Guests this week were Dorothy Arnoti and Alta Clark. There were 52 meals served and 15 takeouts. Mary Purdy won the free dinner.
Dick Nuxoll shared a joke with the group. Nickel Bingo winners were Dolores VonBargen and Katie Remacle. Dolores Kindall and Alta Clark won the blackout.
Door prize winners were Doris Sonnen, Anna Gehring, Elaine Schumacher, Ron Sonnen, Bob Talbott, Mary Ann Kuther and Peg Uhlorn. Bob Talbott was a Leprechaun who came and visited everyone.
Seniors wanting to go to Lewiston to shop or doctor’s appointments and don’t want to drive, call Coast driver Katie Manifold at 208-456-4090.
Come join us for a meal every Tuesday for a small donation at the Pioneer Senior Center in the Cottonwood Community Hall basement. Meals are served at noon.
Menu for March 28: Salisbury Steak, Carrots, Potato Wedge, Pear Salad w/Lettuce and Cottage Cheese, Pineapple Juice. This is also the birthday meeting and the fiddlers will be here.
