ELK CITY VFW Wilderness Post 8311 Auxiliary would like to remind everyone to come out and enjoy the evening with delicious all-you-can-eat tacos at the annual fund-raiser for the Elk City Volunteer Fire Department May 6 in the VFW kitchen from 5 - 7 p.m. Note: the date in last week’s column was a mistake… it should have been the 6th. Sorry.
For those of you who pray, Thursday, May 4th, is the National Day of Prayer. Would encourage you all to pray for our nation! This year’s theme is “For Your Great Name’s Sake! Hear Us ...Forgive Us ...Heal Us!” which is inspired by Daniel 9:19. In 1952, President Truman made the National Day of Prayer an annual observance, stating: “In times of national crisis when we are striving to strengthen the foundations of peace...we stand in special need of Divine support. There are some fascinating events in this country’s history where national prayer was called for.” Look at the bottom of the page on the website for History of Prayer in America. For events and other information go to http://www.nationaldayofprayer.org/
An immature bald eagle visited out “eagle tree” on Sunday. Thought you might enjoy the photo.
