Riggins News: High School Rodeo this weekend at Riggins

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 14: Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers!

Teacher Appreciation Week is this week, Monday-Thursday, May 8-11. Thank a teacher today…one who is teaching your children now or one that taught you when you were a child.

Salmon River Community Church will hold its annual spaghetti feed and auction fund-raiser this Friday, May 12, 5 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. It is always a great fun evening.

The annual Sacred Salmon Ceremony will be held Saturday, May 13, up the Big Salmon at noon.

Riggins Elementary Spring Fling, art show, book fair, appreciation dinner and ASK talent show is tomorrow, Thursday, May 11. Everyone is invited to attend. The annual book fair will then be moved to the Riggins Elementary Library Monday through Friday, May 15-18. This year they will be able to accept credit cards for the book fair as well as having online shopping at their online book fair. Go to http://www.scholastic.com/bf/rigginselementaryschool.

District 3 High School Rodeo final rodeo is this weekend, Saturday, May 13, 2 p.m., and Sunday, May 14, 10 a.m., at the Riggins Rodeo grounds. Admission is free to everyone. Events include breakaway roping, tie-down roping, goat tying, barrels, poles, chute dogging, team roping, saddle bronc, and bull riding. Get on over and watch our young cowboys and cowgirls in rodeo action.

Hikin’ for Healthy Hooters, The Walk for the Cancer Cure, is next Saturday, May 20, at a new location: Miners Supply, located at the north end of Pollock Road. There will be silent bidding items as well as the annual quilt raffle now on display at Pine Tree Community Credit Union. Tickets are $5 each and are available at Pine Tree Credit Union, Idaho Banana Co, Tourist Trap Consignment & Gift Shop, and from members of the Quilters Club as well as the day of the walk. SRHS senior dates to save: Monday, May 22- Baccalaureate at the Salmon River Community Church at 7 p.m.; Thursday, May 25, awards night at the Salmon River Multi-purpose Room at 6 p.m., and Friday, May 26, – graduation in the Salmon River High School main gym at 7 p.m. Each is open to families and community members to help honor our Class of 2017.

The Salmon River Community Church will hold its annual Memorial Day Yard Sale Friday and Saturday May 27 and 28. If you have items you would like to donate, call Pastor Jim to pick them up or you can drop items off at the back door of the church.

The Idaho Banana Co. will have its annual Memorial Day Flea Market in its Orchard. If you would like to set up a table of your wares, stop by the Idaho Banana Co. and talk to Mary Lou.

Riggins Big Water Blow Out Festival, a celebration of Idaho’s longest free-flowing river, will be held Saturday, June 3, from 9 a.m. -10 p.m.

Paula Tucker’s Volleyball Camp for ages K-12 graders, sponsored by the After School Kids Club, is scheduled for June 5-7. Call 628-2770.
