KAMIAH An opportunity is still available to serve as a campground host at Wilderness Gateway Campground, located on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests along Highway 12 and the beautiful Lochsa River, 50 miles east of Kooskia, Idaho near milepost 123.
The forest is seeking a campground host who can work for most of the summer (Memorial Day, May 29–Labor Day, Sept. 4), but will consider those who can work at least one month. The work schedule is five days a week, Thursday through Monday, working five-eight hours per day. Reimbursement is available for up to $28 a day, as well as potential reimbursement for mileage and living expenses.
Campground hosts should enjoy working outside and working with people, and be enthusiastic about sharing information about the forest with campsite visitors. Work duties include providing assistance and information to visitors, updating daily lists of campsite reservations, cleaning and maintaining campground facilities, and completing other operational duties at the campground as needed.
Hosts will be provided with an RV site which includes a fire ring, picnic table, water and sewer hookups, and a solar panel for charging an RV battery. There is no electrical hook-up, phone, or cell service. A Forest Service radio is provided for daily check-ins and emergency communication. Hosts need to provide their own RV (up to 50 feet in length).
