Veterans Center announces ‘First Friday at the Vets’
GRANGEVILLE — Music, food, beverage, and friendship - that’s what’s on tap for the premiere “First Friday at the Vets” event hosted by the Idaho County Veterans Outreach and Community Center. Everyone who enjoys music and good food is invited to attend.
For the kick-off event, set for June 2, Honky Tonk Piano music along with a plate of pulled pork sliders, coleslaw, beans and dessert are on the menu for a $12.50 cover charge, children younger than 12 - $8.50. Doors open at 6 p.m., dinner and music follow.
Enjoy piano tunes by Jinny Cash from the Big Band era along with a little Ragtime and a lot of traditional country and western music.
The June event is a fund-raiser, co-hosted by the Camas Prairie Arena and Event Center Committee with proceeds benefiting both the arena and the veterans center. More events are planned for future first Fridays with other non-profits invited to co-host and share the proceeds in the months ahead. See Jinny at the center or call 983-9387.
Camas Cage Camp set for June 5-8
NEZPERCE – A basketball fundamentals “Camas Cage Camp” hosted by Dave Snodgrass is set for June 5-8 at Bradley gymnasium in Nezperce.
Emphasis will be on fundamentals, footwork, ball handling, shooting, 3 on 3, passing, inside moves and guard moves. Students in grades three through six will attend 1 to 4 p.m., while those in grades seven through 12 are invited from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each night.

Rep. Giddings to speak at Encouragers
GRANGEVILLE — Idaho State Representative Priscilla Giddings will speak Thursday, June 1, at Encouragers, at the 11:30 a.m., no-host luncheon at Oscar’s Restaurant.
Raised on a White Bird ranch, Giddings graduated as valedictorian from Salmon River High School in Riggins. She obtained a B.S. In biology from United States Air Force Academy and was a NCAA Div. I athlete. She served nine years as an A-10 fighter pilot with three combat deployments, and was awarded Top Gun. She currently serves in the Idaho legislature and is a major in the Air Force Reserve. Giddings will share about living the Christian life in challenging environments.
American Legion Bingo set for Kamiah June 2
KAMIAH – American Legion Post No. 75 will host Bingo this Friday, June 2, 7:30 p.m., at the legion hall at 618 Main Street.
Yard sale donations sought for mission trip fund-raiser
GRANGEVILLE – A yard sale to benefit missionary Michael Stevens will be held on June 10. Donations of items to be sold at the sale are being sought. Arrange pickup or drop-off of items with Tammy Plank, 983-0981.
The yard sale will be held at Real Life Grangeville (off the truck route, behind The Gym). Funds raised will go toward Stevens’ mission trip with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) for three weeks of training in Australia, followed by a three-week stint of service in Africa.
Home business fair set for Saturday
GRANGEVILLE — A home business fair is set for Saturday, June 3, noon to 4 p.m., at the Idaho County Veterans Community Outreach Center in Grangeville.
Stop by and visit with representatives from more than a dozen different companies and learn what business opportunities may benefit you or just make contact with a rep about the great products they are offering.
Clearwater Meal Center luncheon set for June 7
CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Meal Center’s next luncheon is set for Wednesday, June 7, noon. Meals are served the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Clearwater Baptist Church. No charge for the luncheon, $5 donation appreciated when possible.
