LOWELL / SYRINGA Regular news is a busy, sunny, perfect Memorial Day weekend. Rafters had perfect level water (5-1/2 feet) and sunshine all three days. There were campfires going on in front of every cabin in the Lochsa Riverbank, marshmallows for the kids, cold beer for the adults, and barbecues everywhere.
We all were sure to have a moment of silence for us all show respect for those lost in service to our country.
Some of the comins’ and goins’ included a big double gas truck parked at the confluence got lost and passed through Kooskia, had to turn around. And a fellow locked himself out of his car on the Selway River Road, walked down to civilization for help! Other than a couple of dog fights at Lochsa Falls, and a knee blown out by a private boater from Missoula, it was a super great fun weekend. Next week even busier. We’ll have the Future Farmers of America on their way to a contest in Moscow, AIRE Boats doing a photo shoot, Bud Ford with a group from up North for his 25 year on the river and another group from Fairchild Air Force Base. Every boat will be ready, every guide buffed, four big days on the Mighty Lochsa. Then in two weeks it’s a big Tarkio Clinic with world class kayakers all over the place.
School is out, every bodies going to have some fun!
