LOWELL / SYRINGA Life in Lowell and Syringa in the fall of each year is good. The TV system is working for football, news, movies, and Dr. Phil. Internet is speedy for staying in touch with friends and family, holiday plans, hunting news, and Google. Even the telephone and electricity works on a regular basis.
We can shop online, and get a speedy delivery. We can eat the healthy stuff out of our gardens, we can enjoy venison left over from last year making room in our freezers for this year’s meat. We scrounge to get our firewood stacked high and keep dry.
We move our house plants off of our treadmill in preparation for upcoming ice and snow on our walking path.
We get our books lined up in anticipation of the long, long, cold, dark evenings of November and December.
We get out our boots and sweaters, we think about the upcoming holidays and gift lists and menus and seeing friends and neighbors and family over a fireside dinner with all the tastes of the season, and we are content!
We save up to pay our property taxes in this great state we live in, and great country, and as I always say, “Eat right, pay your bills, and be kind!”
