Nez-Clear National Forests recipient in USFS regional forester awards

The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests was a joint recipient in 2017 Regional Forester Honor Awards, announced this month by Leanne Marten, Regional Forester for the US Forest Service’s Northern Region.

The annual awards program recognizes significant contributions to the agency’s mission to sustain the health, diversity and productivity of the nation’s forests and grasslands to meet the needs of present and future generations.

The Excelling as a High-Performing Agency Award went jointly to the Nez Perce – Clearwater National Forests and Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) for project work on the Good Neighbor Authority Program. Team members were Forest Service – Mike Ward, Mark Craig, Scott Godfrey; IDL – Dan Fabbi, Bob Helmer, Jim Elbin, Stephen Smith, Jon Songster and Peg Policio.

The Forest or Grassland Unit Safety Excellence Award went jointly to the Nez Perce-Clearwater and Idaho Panhandle national forests for project work on the Emergency and Medical Response Program. Team members were Zach Peterson, Cody Hobart, Mike Behrens, Brett Rogers and Mark Decaria.

The award categories align with the four, outcome-oriented goals in the Forest Service’s Strategic Plan: sustain our nation’s forests and grasslands, deliver benefits to the public, apply knowledge globally, and excel as a high-performing agency.
