LOWELL / SYRINGA Cyber Monday, Black Friday, fast life in the shopping lane goes by and we aren’t on it. On Friday I was too full to move, and I wasn’t about to leave the leftover pies unguarded. On Saturday it was football, football, football. Sunday it was cleanup and say goodbye to company, and Cyber Monday the Internet crashed. This country living isn’t always compatible with the modern living that goes on all around us.
Living in Lowell or Syringa is kind of like turning back the clock. We don’t even speak the same language as the cyber folks. We send our children and grandchildren downriver to interpret the megapixel from the pyroclastic flow.
The flu and cold season has hit the local schools and neighbors are under the weather. One friend up the Selway said, “I was so congested I couldn’t even walk down and feed the chickens.” That’s our world up here in the wilderness!
Hope not too late to remind everyone that the Lowell Quick Response Unit annual Christmas Party is this Saturday, Dec. 2. So, mark your calendars for a party at the Wilderness Inn which starts at 4:30 p.m. Bring your auction items and a potluck dish and get ready for the social event of the year!
One more news flash, one by one. “They” have removed all pay phones from Lowell and Syringa. We have no cell service and now no pay phones, so say goodbye to pay phones upriver. It’s all about profit, not convenience!
So now we get ready for Christmas, and snow, and all the celebrations of this winter season.
