— Two Cascade men are in custody on multiple felony charges following an early morning traffic stop Saturday.

Keith Buffington, 40, and Frank Leming Jr., 51, are being held in the Idaho County Jail.

Buffington was arrested on felony charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, probation and parole agent’s warrant, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.

Leming was arrested on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia, and a Valley County warrant for probation violation on original charges of assault and discharge weapon at another.

Charges resulted from a Sept. 30 incident, according to an ICSO release. At 5:30 a.m., Corporal Craig Hoodman came upon a 2002 Dodge pickup stopped in the wrong lane on Battle Ridge Road. Upon making contact, Hoodman discovered both occupants – Buffington and Leming — sleeping and were disoriented upon waking.

The pair was unaware of their location, and Hoodman observed several firearms in the vehicle, after which he determined Leming had a valid arrest warrant from Valley County, and that Buffington’s driver’s license was suspended and he had a previous felony conviction which barred him from possessing firearms.

Subsequent to the arrests, Hoodman allegedly located methamphetamine and paraphernalia on the occupants and in the vehicle. Hoodman was assisted by Deputy Sam Augello.

Buffington is being held on $25,000 bond for the Idaho County charges. Leming’s bond is set at $10,000 for the Idaho County charges, and $5,000 for the Valley County warrant.
