Savages hold Long Pin lead

— The Salmon River boys took an 18-14 lead into halftime on the strength a touchdown run by Canyon Harper and two touchdown catches by Randy McClure, and they did not allow Garden Valley another point after halftime Friday night, Oct. 6.

The Savages went on to prevail 46-14.

During the second half, Harper scored twice more on runs, and the Salmon River defense housed two turnover returns: Reece Jones ran back a fumble and Payton Baugh ran back an interception.

Coming — Salmon River (6-1) is set to play its regular season final at 7 p.m. MT Friday night, Oct. 13, in Riggins, where they will face Tri-Valley, a team they have beaten every year in recent history.

Last week, Matt Harris of reported Council will play only a JV schedule for the rest of this season “due to low numbers and injuries.” The Lumberjacks had been scheduled to host the Savages for a varsity game Oct. 20.
