Gianopulos, MacMenamin top district

Locals qualified for state runs in cross-country during the district races last week in Lewiston.

The Prairie girls qualified as a team, the Kamiah boys qualified as a team, and two Clearwater Valley runners qualified individually: Melanie Gianopulos and Kevin Hill.

Gianopulos placed first in the 1A district girls race (20:41) and Kamiah’s Michael MacMenamin (16:48) placed first in the 1A district boys race.

Grangeville’s Adam Wonnacott (first, 17:55) qualified in the 2A district boys race.

The state cross-country finals start at 10 a.m. Oct. 28 at Eagle Island State Park, in Boise.
