Kamiah man charged with felony DUI, assault on officer

Sept. 6 preliminary hearing set

Robert Warden

— A court hearing is set this week for Kamiah man Robert W. Warden, arrested last month for felony DUI and assault on an officer following a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 12.

Warden, 52, is set for a preliminary hearing today, Wednesday, Sept. 6, on additional misdemeanor charges of driving without privileges and open container of alcohol

Charges resulted from an Aug. 25 incident, according to an Idaho County Sheriff’s Office release, when ICSO Deputy Sam AuGello observed a vehicle driving recklessly on U.S. 12. Deputy AuGello stopped the 1993 Ford pickup and made contact with the driver, Warden.

According to the release, Warden was argumentative and continuously moving around the vehicle disregarding AuGello’s commands so Nez Perce Tribal Police and backup ICSO deputies were requested. Warden allegedly continued to resist and was combative with the deputies throughout the contact, including propelling a bodily fluid at a deputy.

Warden was subsequently arrested, and tribal police took possession of marijuana found in the vehicle and will be responsible for charging Warden with its possession.
