Lots of nice folks came into town to make for a busy week.

There’s a fire up Coolwater Road at the lookout, caused by lightning last Tuesday, not too big, they are letting it burn, but very hot! Is there any other kind?

Smoke was very thick for the Labor Day weekend and folks were feeling its effects. Can’t go East because it’s worse in Montana, can’t go north, Canada is on fire (hot kind), and can’t go West, Washington had its own problems! So, we go south?? Not sure!

Big wedding at River Dance Lodge in Syringa last Saturday, Donn Gibbs and Kelly Brooks had a birthday celebration in Lowell, Marty and Dani Smith had a party for their son, Max, who turned 4, and the bikers from Montana had a hullabaloo up the Selway, add on Barbecue Days in Kamiah, and CV varsity football in the Kibbie Dome, you have yourself one busy newsworthy week.

I caught a big fat pack rat in my shop! He or she, was eating my sandpaper as fast as I put it down, but no more, die you pack rat, die!

On a nicer note, Max’s party was great. He was having so much fun, and said thank you 100 times. Cousins, friends came from everywhere, and like the last few years watch the helicopters dip in the river at the confluence and drop water on the mountain, this week behind us on Coolwater. He’ll grow up thinking that’s just what you do at your birthday, some sort of old custom.

Miss Martha, with a twisted ankle, Miss Ella with three inches cut off her hair last week, Miss Ruthie, our 6th grader who gets more beautiful every day, and Miss Maddie, wearing a new dress she picked out at the Kamiah Barbecue Days after she got a free roll of toilet paper from the plumber’s float in the parade. Miss Elise and Miss Kameryn came from Grangeville with their great-gramma Linda Junes, whom Mr. Max calls Great Linda. We joke because she’s younger than I am and I’m just plain gramma. Helicopters, parties, cousins, and now more fires!
