— Auto repair in Grangeville just got a little easier with another choice for vehicle owners.

Main Street Service opened Aug. 28 and is located at 325 East Main Street, on the same side as Camas Eye Clinic.

The business is a family endeavor, with Aaron Chernugel running the mechanical end and his sister, Sarah Rivera, working on the scheduling, computer work and books.

Chernugel moved to the area from Florida about six years ago when his parents fulfilled their dream of moving West.

“I worked in rock crushing just before this, but I have always been mechanical and have worked on motors forever,” he said. Growing up, his father owned an excavation business and there was always repair work to be completed.

Chernugel and Madison Chounard have two toddlers, and Rivera moved here this summer with her two children.

“We lived in Tampa and I am so glad to be here and live in a place where my children can walk downtown and play safely,” she said. “I love the lack of traffic and the weather here, too.”

Rivera worked as an insurance adjustor in Florida and now works part time in the mornings for the post office in Grangeville, and then heads to Main Street Service to help out.

Chernugel will work on “just about anything,” he said, but does not rebuild engines. He will work on any make or model of car, truck, farm equipment, ATVs and lawn mowers.

“Basically, if there’s a mechanical question, call or stop by,” he said.

His offerings also include oil changes and brake work.

The brother and sister team have their parents to thank for helping purchase the business facility, they said. Their mom works at Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation and their dad drives truck.

“Eventually, we hope to all be involved here in some way, but that’s in the future,” smiled Rivera. “Right now, I’m so glad to be here in Idaho with my family.”

Main Street Service is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and is closed Sundays. Call 208-983-1814.
