— The Idaho County Carcass Show and Judging Contest was held on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Sonnen Meats in Greencreek. 4-H and FFA members were given instruction on how to quality and yield grade beef and sheep carcasses and how to determine USDA grades on swine carcasses.

Following the grading instruction, the 4-H and FFA members participated in a carcass judging contest with the top three judges receiving cash awards sponsored by Sonnen Meats. The contest consisted of judging two classes of beef carcasses, two classes of swine carcasses and one class of lamb carcasses.

The top judge at the carcass judging contest was Taryn Godfrey of Grangeville, a member of the Fenn 4-H Livestock Club. Second place went to Jessie Sonnen of Greencreek, a member of the Greencreek Active Workers 4-H Club. Third place went to Rachael Stevens of Grangeville, a member of the Grangeville FFA Chapter. Overall, 25 kids judged in this contest.
