— Fall has fallen. Looks kinda like winter may have set in at the beginning of fall what with snow in the high country.

The Community Library will be open on Tuesdays instead of Wednesdays for the winter. Times are 3:15 to 5 p.m., at the Elk City School.

The Elk Community Church has decided to remain on summer hours year-round. Worship services will continue to be at 9 a.m., on Sundays. This is an interdenominational church and everyone is welcome!

As a note of interest for those of you who may not know or who are new to the area, the building that houses the Community Church is the old Elk City schoolhouse. The photo shows the schoolhouse as it looked in 1917 in it original location near the present-day location of the school. The photo is from the Mildred Cleveland Collection who was a teacher there at that time.

The Elk City Area Alliance will be having a fund-raiser bake sale on Oct. 5 and a pie sale for Thanksgiving (the date will be announced later). If you have donations of baked goods, contact Patricia Menough or bring them on the day of the sale. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.

Birthday: Chris Thompson.
