Earth Day participants sought for Kamiah

— A plan to celebrate Earth Day in Kamiah is in the works for Friday, April 20, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Activities for children, such as creating art from recycled materials, games or displays about forests, soils, the hidden costs of water, gardening and composting and face-painting will be offered. The city council supports the event and approved closing a block of 5th Street between Main and Idaho streets.

Currently, organizers are looking for people and organizations to support area youth by providing free hands-on activities that educate the community and exemplify natural resources or local food production. Activities such as yoga, dance or music would be welcome.

All activities will be offered free of charge, with no booths selling items. To participate, call Lauren Paterson at 208-935-5251 or e-mail Norma Staaf at
